JAMIE FARR
Gold Angel Winner
Undoubtedly best recognized as the cross-dressing "Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger" from the long-running TV series M*A*S*H, Jamie Farr’s career had actually
begun 20 years earlier when he was a regular playing "Snorkel" on The Red Skelton Show. Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Farr was class president at
Woodward High School, where he was active in the drama club. Farr’s Lebanese heritage led him to dream of following in the footsteps of entertainer Danny
Thomas, who also was Lebanese, and had graduated from Woodward High a decade earlier.
Farr attended the Pasadena Playhouse, and gained his first on screen
role as "Santini" in the film Blackboard Jungle. Besides The Red Skelton Show, Farr’s early TV work included brief appearances as a delivery boy in a
number of episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show. Post M*A*S*H, Farr reprised the role of "Klinger" on the TV series After M*A*S*H, which ran for one season,
and more recently he played the guardian angel "Ernie" on the TV series Port Charles.
