Few, if any, television personalities have ever been as admired, adored and loved as Mr. Rogers. For 30 years over PBS, Fred Rogers has invited us into his neighborhood where his teachings, graciousness, gentle ways and love of people have influenced us all to live better lives. He has been our entertainer and educator and friend. PBS would have us believe this is a children's program. But anyone from five to 90 and beyond might learn from it while at the same time having fun.

Mister Rogers neighborhood has followed faithfully its original purpose "to encourage us to be honest with ourselves and with one another, and to know that each of us is a unique and precious part of our own world". Mr. Rogers' quiet but telling comments have found their way into numerous books, many videos and audios ("talking books"). Over 30 years ago (February 19th, 1968) MR. ROGERS NEIGHBORHOOD wrapped itself around all of us.

And EXCELLENCE IN MEDIA remembers the joy and inspiration of those years by giving FRED ROGERS a gold angel, a symbol of how a nation -- and a world -- feels about a neighborhood that means so much to us all.
