Gold Angel Winner
Candid Camera has been catching Americans -- many around the world -- in the act of being themselves for 51 years. First Allen Funt and now his son Peter
used two tools of their unique trade -- a hidden camera and gentle humor -- to capture the reactions of ordinary people in extraordinary and even bizarre
situations.
That is one reason Excellence in Media has voted a Gold Angel to this program. The other reason: the acting talents and personalities of the
two "Hosts": Funt and the talented Suzanne Somers. Funt made his first appearance on the program when he and the series were 3 years old. He posed as a
shoeshine boy who charged $10 per shoe. He took over as host in 1987.
As a journalist with a degree from the University of Denver, Peter Funt served five
years as an editor and reporter for ABC News. He produced several specials, wrote many articles, penned the best-selling book "Gotcha", lectured before
top business groups, and followed in his father's footsteps as president of Laughter Therapy which sends tapes at no charge to ill people. He resides in
central California with his wife Amy and two children Stephanie and Danny. His favorite pastimes are tennis, golf, and people watching.
